2009 ‘The Road Less Travelled’ Woodside Sauvignon Blanc

Not your average Sauvignon Blanc, a significant portion of this wine underwent a wild fermentation in barrel. The balance was barrel fermented with inoculated yeasts. Aging sur lie with weekly battonage to encourages further textural development. A low sulpher régime encourages savory character. Six months maturation in seasoned French oak barriques provide a further textural influence. This is intended to be a more sophisticated, grown up style of wine, equally at home being slurped on a sunny afternoon, or as an accompiment to food. Inspired by Pouilly-Fume styles, this is a textured and complex wine, finishing with mineral acidity.

2008 Aristo Single Vineyard Shiraz
(release mid 2010, approx 150 cases)

Sourced from an exceptional single vineyard in Greenock (Kalleske East Block), this wine is intense in every way. The colour is ‘out of control’ showing amazing depth and vibrancy. The nose is still quite elemental with dark chocolate, and rich dark fruits. The palate is long and intense showing ripe blackberry and plum characters. Matured in 45% new Francois Freres French Oak Barriques, this wine shows ample structure, with balanced acid and fine grained tannin on the finish. This wine from the exceptional 2008 vintage is anticipated to be quite long lived.
